사회계약론 쉽게 설명해줌, 사회계약론은 사람들이 서로 협력하여 사회를 만들고, 법과 질서를 유지하기 위해 동의한 약속이나 계약이라는 개념. 이 계약은 사람들이 자신의 일부 자유를 포기하는 대신, 법과 질서를 통해 안전과 평화를 얻는 것을 의미함. 예: "나는 다른 사람의 물건을 훔치지 않을 테니, 다른 사람도 내 물건을 훔치지 못하게 하자." 전두환, 노태우, 박근혜, 이명박, 윤석열 등 대통령들 이라는 사람들이 기초적인 사회계약론을 위반하는 것들을 보며 잘 못되고 있다고 느꼈습니다.  

발제: 사회계약이 소수자의 권리를 충분히 보호하지 못한다면, 그 계약은 여전히 정당한가?

니코마코스 윤리학 쉽게 말해: 니코마코스 윤리학은 "좋은 성품을 길러, 조화롭고 균형 잡힌 삶을 살면, 진정한 행복에 도달할 수 있다"는 철학임. 그리고 이 행복은 혼자만의 것이 아니라, 다른 사람들과의 관계 속에서 완성된다잉. 예: 단순히 돈이 많거나 재미있는 일을 하는 것이 아니라, 삶 전체가 의미 있고 조화롭게 이루어지는 상태.

니코마코스 윤리학에 대해서 고민을 조금 해보았습니다. 한국의 대부분 10대들은 돈많고 재미있는 일하고 좋은 직업 가지면 성공한 삶이라고 생각한다고 저는 믿습니다. 하지만 이러한 문제는 한국의 10대들이 "돈이 많고 재미있는 일을 하면 성공한 삶"이라고 믿는 것은 사회적 강박관념일 수도 있겠다라고 생각했습니다. 또한 진정한 행복과 성공은 외부의 조건이 아니라, 삶 전체가 의미 있고 조화롭게 이루어지는 상태에서 찾아야 한다고 생각하고. 이제는 돈과 재미를 넘어, 자신만의 가치와 목표를 찾는 새로운 삶의 길을 고민할 때라고 생각합니다. 스웨덴, 덴마크, 핀란드 같은 북유럽 국가들은 삶의 질과 균형을 성공의 중요한 요소로 보고기 때문에 그들은 개인의 행복, 가족과의 시간, 여가를 중시하며, 사회적 안전망 덕분에 지나치게 돈에 집착하지 않는 경향이 있다고 들었습니다. 

발제: 1. "니코마코스 윤리학에서 말하는 '조화로운 삶'은 현대 사회의 과도한 경쟁과 물질주의 속에서도 실현 가능할까요? 그렇다면 어떻게?" 2. "북유럽 국가들처럼 삶의 질을 우선시하는 문화를 한국 사회에 도입하려면 어떤 제도적, 문화적 변화가 필요할까요?"

영화 Mr. Smith Goes to Washington에서 가장 인상 깊은 장면은 후반부에 제퍼슨 스미스가 상원에서 필리버스터를 통해 자신의 결백과 이상을 증명하려 애쓰는 순간입니다. 그는 밤낮없이 연설하며, 진실을 밝히고 부패한 정치인들의 음모를 폭로하려 하고. 이 장면은 한 사람의 목소리가 거대한 권력 구조에 맞설 수 있음을 강렬하게 보여주는게 부패한 시스템 속에서도 희망을 잃지 말라는 메시지를 전달하는 것 처럼 보여서 저에겐 가장 인상 깊은 장면이라고 생각했습니다.

이 영화의 가장 중요한 포인트는 바로 개인의 신념과 용기가 부패한 권력에 맞설 수 있다는 점입니다. 스미스는 정치 경험이 없는 순수한 이상주의자였지만, 그의 정의감과 용기는 결국 사람들의 마음을 움직이고, 진실을 밝혀냅니다. 이러한 메시지는 영화의 허구를 넘어 현실에서도 수많은 사례를 통해 증명되었습니다. 그리고 이 영화를 보고 가장 먼저 생각 난것은 만약 "우리들의 일그러진 영웅"에 나오는 주인공 병태가 만약 확고한 개인의 신념과 용기가 있었다면 석대의 권력을 무너뜨릴수 있지 않았을까 라는 생각이었습니다. 또한, 저저번 주에 세중이 형과 토론을 마친 후 숙소로 돌아와 한국의 정치적 이야기를 나누며, "과연 우리 소수 인원이 저 거대한 권력 구조나 부패한 사회를 바로잡을 수 있을까? 소수의 목소리는 무시당하니 어렵지 않을까? 어떻게 해야 할까?"라는 대화를 했습니다. 그런데 이 영화를 보고 나니, 개인의 확고한 신념과 용기가 부패한 시스템을 바로잡을 수 있다는 메시지를 받은 것 같습니다.

그래서 개인의 신념과 용기가 부패한 권력에 맞설 수 있다는 점에 대해서 3가지를 조사 해보았습니다. 1. 2013년 에드워드 스노든은 미국 국가안보국(NSA)의 대규모 감시 프로그램을 폭로하며 정부의 부당한 권력 남용에 맞섰습니다. 그는 개인의 프라이버시와 자유를 지키기 위해 자신의 안전과 자유를 희생하며 진실을 알렸고. 2. 1950~60년대 마틴 루터 킹 주니어는 비폭력적인 방법으로 인종차별에 저항하며 시민권 운동을 이끌었습니다. 그의 "I Have a Dream" 연설은 정의를 위한 개인의 목소리가 얼마나 강력한 변화를 가져올 수 있는지를 상징합니다. 3. 또한, 넬슨 만델라는 남아프리카공화국의 아파르트헤이트(인종차별 정책)에 저항하며 27년간의 수감 생활을 견뎠습니다. 그는 끝까지 신념을 지키며 남아공의 민주화를 이끌었고, 평화와 화합의 상징이 되었습니다. 이 세 사람의 이야기는 영화 속 제퍼슨 스미스의 투쟁과 연결됩니다. 현실에서도 스미스와 같은 인물들은 부당한 권력에 맞서 싸우며 사회를 변화시켰습니다. 영화와 실제 사건들은 모두 개인의 용기와 신념이야말로 세상을 더 나은 방향으로 이끌 수 있는 원동력임을 보여줍니다. Social contract theory explained simply. This contract means that people give up some of their freedoms in exchange for gaining safety and peace through law and order. Example: "I won't steal other people's things, so let's not let other people steal mine." I felt that it was wrong to see presidents like Chun Doo-hwan, Roh Tae-woo, Park Geun-hye, Lee Myung-bak, and Yoon Seok-yeol violating the basic social contract theory.

Nicomachean Ethics Simply put: Nicomachean Ethics is the philosophy that "if you cultivate good character and live a harmonious and balanced life, you can achieve true happiness." And this happiness is not something that you alone have, but is completed in relationships with other people. Example: Not simply having a lot of money or doing fun things, but a state where your entire life is meaningful and harmonious.

I thought a little about Nicomachean Ethics. I believe that most teenagers in Korea think that having a lot of money, an interesting job, and a good job is a successful life. However, I thought that this problem might be a social obsession that Korean teenagers believe that "having a lot of money and an interesting job is a successful life." I also think that true happiness and success should not be found in external conditions, but in a state where life as a whole is meaningful and harmonious. I think it is time to think about a new way of life that goes beyond money and fun and finds your own values ​​and goals. I heard that Nordic countries such as Sweden, Denmark, and Finland consider quality of life and balance as important factors for success, so they value personal happiness, time with family, and leisure, and tend not to be overly obsessed with money thanks to the social safety net.

Movie Mr. The most impressive scene in Smith Goes to Washington is the moment when Jefferson Smith tries to prove his innocence and ideals through a filibuster in the Senate. He speaks day and night, trying to reveal the truth and expose the conspiracy of corrupt politicians. This scene powerfully shows that one person's voice can stand up to a huge power structure. Smith's passion and courage seemed to convey the message that we should not lose hope even in a corrupt system. The most important point of this movie is that individual beliefs and courage can stand up to corrupt power. Smith was a pure idealist with no political experience, but his sense of justice and courage eventually moved people's hearts and revealed the truth. This message has been proven through numerous cases in reality, beyond the fiction of the movie. And the first thing that came to mind after watching this movie was the thought that if Byung-tae, the main character in "Our Twisted Hero," had a firm personal belief and courage, he could have overthrown Seok-dae's power. Also, after finishing the discussion with Se-jung last week, I returned to my dorm and talked about Korean politics, and we had a conversation about, "Can a small number of us really fix that huge power structure or corrupt society? Isn't it difficult because the voices of the small number are ignored? What should we do?" However, after watching this movie, I think I got the message that an individual's firm belief and courage can fix a corrupt system.

So I researched three things about how an individual's belief and courage can stand up to corrupt power. 1. In 2013, Edward Snowden exposed the National Security Agency's (NSA) large-scale surveillance program and stood up against the government's unfair abuse of power. He sacrificed his own safety and freedom to tell the truth in order to protect his personal privacy and freedom. 2. Martin Luther King Jr. led the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s by resisting racial discrimination in a nonviolent manner. His "I Have a Dream" speech symbolizes how powerful a personal voice for justice can bring about change. 3. Nelson Mandela also resisted South Africa's apartheid (racial discrimination policy) and endured 27 years of imprisonment. He led South Africa's democratization by maintaining his beliefs to the end, and became a symbol of peace and harmony. The stories of these three people are connected to the struggle of Jefferson Smith in the movie. In real life, people like Smith fought against unjust power and changed society. Both the movie and real events show that individual courage and beliefs are the driving force that can lead the world in a better direction. Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is a work that artistically captures this message, and it still deeply moves and inspires us today.
