파우스트

책 파우스트 내용을 아주 간략하게 설명하자면 악마 '메피스토펠리스' 는 신과 내기를 하게 된다. 진리를 추구 하는 늙은 교수 '파우스트' 를 타락시키면 악마가 이기고, 아니면 신이 이기게 된다. 그렇게 해서 메피스토는 파우스트에게 매우 독특한 경험들을 체험시키면 그를 타락시키려 한다 입니다.

이 책을 읽으며 저의 느낀점을 적어보겠습니다. 

1. 인간은 나약하다.

2. 그럼에도 불구하고 노력 해야한다.

3. 물론, 인간은 나약하기 때문에 불완전한 결과를 내기도 한다.

4. 그걸 이해하고 용서해줄 존재가 필요하다.

파우스트의 입장을 생각하면, 메피스토펠레스는 '악' 의 상징이지만 마냥 나쁘기만 한 캐릭터는 아니라고 생각합니다. 인간을 동정하기도 하고,  첫 등장때 부터 꾸준히 자기 자신이 '선 을 만들어 내는 존재' 라고 하며 설명합니다. 괴테[독일의 시인, 과학자 등] 의 연설문 에서도 '악' 은 '선' 에 속하는 개념이다 라고 연설문에서 찾아 볼수있습니다. 그리고 파우스트는 인생의 재미를 잃어 극단적 선택을 하려 한 파우스트 에게 삶의 원동력이 되어준건 다름 아닌 메피스토펠레스 입니다, 그러므로 저는 메피스토가 마냥 나쁘다고 생각하지 않습니다. 하지만 그것은 파우스트의 생각이였고 다른 사람의 입장을 생각 하면 메피스토펠레스 와 파우스트는 무고한 사람들을 희생시키고 자기의 욕구만 채웠습니다. 하지만 파우스트는 죽을 때까지 후회 하며 살다 죽었다. 그래서 그런지 그렌트 핸 이 파우스트를 구원 해주었다.

이 소설에서 나오는 악마가 너무 예의가 바르고 선하게 이야기했던거 같습니다. 보통 악마라고 하면 말을 나쁘게 하고 폭력을 하는 그런 느낌이었는데, 이 책에서는 악마가 굽신굽신하면서 혁명하고 지혜롭게 이야기를 하면서 슬쩍 나쁜 쪽 으로 꼬득는 모습이 인상 깊었습니다. 

이 모습을 보면서 '아, 대놓고 나빠 보이는 것보다 이렇게 위하는 척하면서 사람을 나쁜 길로 꼬드기는 사람이야말로 진짜 나쁜 사람이고, 더 약해 보이는구나' 라는 생각이 들었습니다.

Considering Faust's position, I think Mephistopheles is a symbol of 'evil' but not just a bad character. He also sympathizes with humans, and from his first appearance, he consistently explains himself as a "being who creates good." You can also see in Goethe's speech that evil is a concept that belongs to good. And it's none other than Mephistopheles who's been the driving force behind Faust who's lost the fun of life and is trying to make extreme choices, so I don't think Mephisto is just as bad. But it was Faust's idea, and considering other people's positions, Mephistopheles and Faust sacrificed innocent people and only satisfied their own needs. But Faust lived and died regretting until he died. Perhaps that's why Grant Han saved Faust.

I think the devil in this novel spoke so politely and nicely. Usually, when it comes to demons, it felt like they were speaking badly and using violence, but in this book, it was impressive to see the devil bending, revolutionizing, and talking wisely, and slightly leaning toward the bad side.

Looking at this, I thought, "Oh, rather than looking openly bad, it's a really bad person who pretends to be this good and seduces people into a bad way, and seems weaker."
